About Us
IGNITE MED is a 501 (c ) (3) organization created for women medical students to provide them with enhanced skills and additional training to ensure career success in medicine. The secondary goal of the program is to reduce burnout and attrition of women in medicine by improving individual resilience and addressing institutional and cultural issues in medicine that contribute to physician burnout. IGNITE MED provides an online didactic curriculum, group coaching, mentorship, and opportunities to conduct original research with the goal of publication. The didactic curriculum is delivered by physician educators and can be accessed through an on-demand format. Curricular topics include managing microaggressions, sexual harassment, gender discrimination, leadership, work life balance, depression and suicide, reproductive life planning, managing student debt, personal finance and entrepreneurship. Group coaching is conducted by physician certified coaches with ten students participating in six weekly one-hour sessions conducted by Zoom. IGNITE MED is designed for women but welcomes all medical students to participate.
Mission Statement
To be the premier physician led organization dedicated to ensuring women medical students will thrive as physicians practicing in their chosen specialty through the delivery of a curriculum that guides skill enhancement, the development of a supportive community and interaction with women physician role models.
Vision Statement
We seek to ensure that all women can practice medicine in their specialty of choice without gender discrimination and with the skills necessary to balance the often-conflicting demands of work and family responsibilities while enhancing personal resilience and resistance to burnout
